Iced Dalgona

This 2020 TikTok trend is still going strong in my kitchen.


Dalgona coffee was around for years before Covid, but during March 2020 it became one of the big food hits, with countless versions popping up across social media. Two years later it's still my number one way to enjoy coffee at home because it just feels so fancy!


It works great with both hot and cold drinks, and looks especially nice when whipped separately and added to the drink after. However, this is my tried and trusted basic iced method, which can even be done whilst holding a sleeping baby - spoken from experience.


If you've got extra sipping time, try adding a little alcoholic optional extra. A cream liqueur is especially tasty and doubles down on the whole enjoyable experience.


 

Ingredients

  • 2 tsp white sugar

  • 2 tsp instant coffee

  • 2 tsp water

  • Milk

  • Ice cubes

  • Optional extras (cream liqueur, vodka, rum)


 

Method

  • Whisk together the water, instant coffee, and sugar - a mini electric whisk/milk frother is perfect for this. They will combine into a thickened and creamy mixture after a few minutes.

  • Add ice cubes and milk to top.

  • Pour in your little optional extra if your day needs an alcoholic kick.
